Our mat-based Pilates class aims to improve strength, especially at the functional core and trunk muscles. The exercises also promote mobility, flexibility and balance.

The class runs as a group session, and all the exercises will have various difficulty levels to allow participants to progress through the levels as they improve. All exercises will include demonstrations of level one exercises, suitable for beginners.

Kirsty trained to teach Pilates with The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI); A World-leading provider of Physiotherapy and Pilates Education. Kirsty’s training & understanding of Pilates & Exercise Therapy alongside her extensive Physiotherapy knowledge and skill-base puts her in a unique position.

As an experienced Physiotherapist she understands your injury/condition and knows which exercises are likely to be most beneficial or problematic for you. She will often use her clinical reasoning skills to modify the Traditional Pilates exercises to ensure they are suitable & safe for you to practice.

Prior to your first class we will be in-touch with you to get a little more detail about you, your rehab needs and any significant medical and/or surgical history/plans. This allows us to ensure that the class can be made suitable for you and any specific rehabilitation needs, including any surgical contraindications/precautions.

The class currently runs at Great Shefford Village Hall on Thursday Evenings from 6:15 – 7:15pm

The lower limb rehab class is an exercise based class. Each person attending the class will have individual aims and goals but overall, the class aims to help class members to improve their function, mobility, strength and balance.

The class is suitable for:
-People recovering from lower-limb injuries or conditions, who are building back up to their usual functions, hobbies, activities &/or sports.

-People preparing for surgery who want to build up their strength and function to get into the best possible shape ahead of surgery.

-People recovering from many different types of surgery. The class will often be made up of patients who have had joint replacements, joint arthoscopies/key hole surgeries, cartilage surgery, ligament surgery, joint fixations and following many different types of fractures.

-People who have not necessarily suffered an injury but who want to build up their activity levels, function or confidence within the safety of a physiotherapy-led rehab class.

As this is a rehab class and because the scope of the class is wide, prior to your first class we will be in-touch with you to get a little more detail about you, your rehab needs and any significant medical and/or surgical history/plans. This allows us to ensure that the class can be made suitable for you and your specific rehabilitation needs, including any surgical contraindications/precautions.

The class is currently running at Great Shefford Village Hall on Thursday Evenings from 5:00 – 6:00pm.
